About Taraba State College of Education, Zing
This is one college of education that has stood the test of time. In fact, it is an age-long institution. The school was founded by the then Gongola state government in 1977. However, full operation and lectures did not commence until January 1978.
In the beginning, the school used the Nukkai primary school, Jalingo as a temporary base and was also affiliated to the very popular and famous Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
It was under the auspices of Ahmadu Bello University that the school produced its first five (5) sets of graduates before teaming up with the University of Maiduguri in 1983.
In 1986, the NCCE (the body that monitors and regulates all colleges of education in the country) took over the supervision of the school. Mr. Tijani Gwari was named the first provost of the college in 1977, and the school has had 13 more provosts since then with Dr. Mike Dio Jen being the most recent of all.
It is also important to note that Taraba state college of education has well-qualified and disciplined staff. Taraba state College of Education offers Pre-NCE, NCE, and degree certification to students.
The school is state-owned, and it has all essential amenities such as an e-library, well equipped sporting center, hostels and halls of residence, a spacious car park, and excellent transport facilities.
Whether applying for a Pre-NCE or NCE programme, a student must have a minimum of five (5) credits in SSCE or GC and must apply for and pass JAMB.
