About Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu Ijebu, Ogun State
Tai Solarin College of Education was established in 1978. In recent times, the school is referred to as Tai Solarin University of Education after it was officially renamed by the former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniels in January of 2005.
Tai Solarin College of Education is unique in the sense that it is the only institution of higher learning in the country that offers both the Bachelor’s degree in Education certification (B.Ed.) and the coveted National Certificate of Education (NCE).
The college presently has eight distinct schools and a sizeable number of academic and non-academic staff. The population of students in this school is impressive too and is over 12,000.
Tai Solarin College of Education was named after the late human rights activist, educationist, and educational administrator, Tai Solarin who died in 1994 at the age of 72.
This school is big, spacious and covers a large expanse of land. Also, the institution has all necessary facilities and infrastructure expected of an institution of such magnitude.
The governing council of the school is headed by Prof. Olufemi A. Bamiro (Pro-chancellor and chairman). Prof. Oluyemisi O. Obilade is the present Vice-Chancellor of the institution, and Mr. Ifeoluwa Odusanya is the bursar. Facilities in this school include the e-learning center, halls of residence and hostels and well-furnished lecture halls. It is also important to note that the school has a stable academic calendar.
The school has six (6) colleges prospective students can enroll in, and they are as follows:
