ABOUT RAMAT POLYTECHNIC:
Ramat Polytechnic was originally called Government Technical College and was established in 1973 by the defunct North-eastern state government. Initially, the institution offered basic and intermediate technical courses and offered candidates with the award of ‘City and Guilds Certificate.
The state, before the establishment of the institution, had shortcomings in the areas of mid-level manpower needs. This need sparked the flame that led to the establishment of Ramat Polytechnic (Government Technical College as it was called) by the state government of the state to provide students with courses for the training and development of technical aspects like applied sciences, commerce and engineering.
The institution provides the facilities for advanced learning to help its students become more entrepreneurially minded. Some of these facilities include:
Courses of instruction for full-time and part-time training which will lead to the award of National Diploma, certificates and other achievements in the areas of science, technology and other aspects where the middle-level manpower of the state is falling short.
Expertise or special training in subjects that may lead to distinction or excess on the list of the requirements by the Ministry of Education and the mid-level manpower needs of the country.
Efforts in the growth and development of techniques, seminars, conferences, etc.
Special activities that are invented by the governing council of the institution and are aimed at promoting the objectives and preserving the integrity of the institution.
Ramat Polytechnic is made up of twenty-eight departments over six schools. The six schools are;
- School of engineering
- School of general studies
- School of vocational studies
- School of Management studies
- School of environmental studies
- School of agriculture and applied sciences
The Polytechnic is steadily growing and today boasts of more than 15,000 students and is a renowned institution in areas of Management, Technology etc.
