About KolaDaisi University, Ibadan
KolaDaisi University certainly has to be the youngest and most recent university in Nigeria. The university got appropriate operational license from the National Universities Commission barely a year ago (November 2016 precisely).
The university was founded by Chief Kola Daisi, CON. Chief Kola Daisi is a renowned socialite, philanthropist, businessman, educationist and the Bashorun of Ibadan. Chief Kola Daisi is also the founder of the Kola Daisi Foundation, an NGO that has influenced the life of many since it was founded in 1993.
KolaDaisi University was established to solve the problem of quality education that has plagued the tertiary education sector in Nigeria. The school has a vision of nurturing graduates with high level of competency and impressive employability attributes. Admission into KolaDaisi university is similar to all other universities. Prospective students must apply through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation board (JAMB) and must possess a minimum of five (5) credits at not more than two (2) sittings in NECO, GCE, NABTEB, and SSCE.
The school fee in this school is relatively cheap when compared to other private schools in the country. For now, there are only two (2) faculties in the university. They are
- Faculty of Applied sciences – Departments include Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics
- Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences – Departments include History and Diplomatic studies, Business Administration, Economics, Banking and Finance, Political science, Mass communication, Accounting, English language and literary studies.
Professor Kolawole T. Jaiyeoba is the current Vice chancellor of the institution and he has been in charge of administrative matters since inception of the school. Although still in its early months, there are already a number of international students in the school.
