About Institute of Ecumenical Education (Thinkers’ Corner), Enugu
This school was founded in the early 80’s by Rev. Fr. Chinedu Anih during his stint as the Bishop of Enugu Diocese. Aside from being the founder of the institute, he also doubled as the Provost until 1998 when he handed over the mantle of leadership to Rev. Fr. Dr. Christopher Ofordile.
At present, Rev. Prof. Dr. Anieke serves as the rector of the school, a position he assumed from Rev. Fr. Dr. Ignatius Emefoh in 2011. Typically, the present administration of IECE comprises of the provost, deputy provost, and the institution’s registrar, and bursar, deans of schools and head of departments.
To ensure the efficient running of the school, we also have the medical and health service unit who are in charge of the general well being of all students of the school. The works and maintenance service unit are saddled with the task of making sure all facilities in the institution are functional and in good working condition.
The security unit is also there to ensure the safety of lives and properties of students and lecturers. ICT center (in charge of information technology). There is also the exams and records unit who are in charge of collating scores and ensuring proper documentation.
Some of the schools and colleges in the IECE include;
- School of Education (business education, general education, agricultural education, early childhood education, primary education studies)
- School of Arts and Social Science ( political science, economics, social studies, ecumenism, Christian Religious Studies)
- School of Sciences (mathematics, computer science, biology, physics, chemistry)
- School of Languages – comprises of the Department of Modern Languages and the Department of Nigerian Languages
IECE runs both full-time and sandwich programmes.
