This is a state-owned institution that was founded in August 2002 by the government of Cross River state. In fact, three tertiary institutions merged to form what is today known as CRUTECH. The institutions are the Akamkpa College of Education, the Polytechnic Calabar, and the Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture, Ovonum, Obubra.
It was in September 2002 that the school finally launched fully. The Cross Rivers State University of Technology is geared towards producing graduates that can stand their own anywhere in the world. The governing council of the school comprises of the Pro-Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Representatives of the Ministry of Education, University librarian, and bursar.
The primary function of the governing council is to manage the students, lecturers, and resources of the school and also to ensure strict compliance with law and order. Cross River State University of technology have four (4) campuses which are the Obubra campus, Okuku campus, Ogoja campus and Calabar campus.
Presently, there are eight (8) faculties in this school. The Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of communication technology are all located on the Calabar campus. The Ogoja campus is home to the Faculty of management sciences while the Okuku Campus houses the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry is situated in the Obubra Campus.
Cross River State University of Technology offers undergraduate and postgraduate certifications in various courses. The school is well planned and well-structured with all units functioning as well. There is no discrimination in the admission policy of the institution as students of different races, tribe and background are offered an opportunity to study.

PROCEDURE FOR PAYMENT
Fresh Students are to pay a non refundable acceptance fee of N10, 000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) only before payment of school fees.
They should pay at any branch of the designated Banks in the schedule.
After payment of fees, students should proceed as follows:
- Obtain their acceptance fee/school fee receipts from the Faculty Finance Officers in their respective Faculties.
- Present the acceptance fee receipt and collect admission letters from Faculty Officers in their respective Faculties.
All returning students should also pay their school fees according to the schedule above.
Returning students can only have access to their last semester results upon payment of all fees of the previous session.
