About College of Education, Ekiadolor
The College of Education, Ekiadolor in Edo State is a unique college that admits students interested in courses offered by the institution on full or part time basis or even mixed-mode or distance learning as needed by the student.
The institution has one of the smallest numbers of students of any tertiary institution in the country with just about 2,000 students, but there expectations that this number would rapidly increase in a couple of years.
The College puts in place several practices to ensure that every student passes through the four walls of the institution and gains ample knowledge from the courses taught. It uses ‘student-centered training’ to ensure that students are ‘submerged’ in the learning process this way, they retain most if not all of the information fed them.
This method of educating is believed to foster a better understanding of every topic taught to students making them more learned and exposed and able to develop even more brilliant ideas.
The college which was established in 1979 as an Advanced Teacher Training College aimed at training NCE teachers was first located at Iyaro in Benin City, Edo State during its establishment. The college fully commenced operation in 1980 and was later renamed ‘College of Education, Benin City.’ With the need to move, the College of Education Ekiadolor relocated to its permanent site in the year 1986. The permanent site is situated at Ekiadolor which is about 25 kilometers from the Edo state capital.
