ABOUT CALEB UNIVERSITY IMOTA (CUI):
Caleb University located in Imota, Lagos, is a private university that was established in Nigeria in 2008. However, the foundation that led to the eventual emergence of the university was laid as early as 1986 when Prince Oladega Adebogun came with an idea of establishing primary and secondary schools that will have what it takes to salvage the falling standard of public schools in Mainland Lagos.
The resulting school was called Caleb Nursery and Primary School. As a result of the school’s exploits, establishing a secondary education was inevitable and after some years, Caleb International College, located at Magodo, had established itself as one of the heavyweights in academic excellence all over the country.
Because of Caleb International College’s exploits in the academics, it became known both locally and internationally, and in 2004, the school gained admission as a full member of the ISA (International Schools Association).
After that, a pure inspiration arose in the heart of the founder of Caleb International for the establishment of a tertiary institution that will pick up from where the Secondary School stopped to continue to influence their students positively.
Prince Oladega then approached the Federal Government of Nigeria and requested for an application form to run a private University as was established in the constitution according to Act No. 9 of 1993. It was, however, until 2005 that the school acquired 100 hectares of land in Imota and met several other criteria to run a private university as stipulated by the Federal Government. Two years later, after the school facilities had passed NUC verification, it was granted probational License to operate as a private university, and hence it became Caleb University. Its first set of students was admitted in January 2008.
