ABOUT AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY (AHU):
Al-Hikmah University is one of the Muslim universities in Nigeria. It was established in the year 2005 by two Islamic groups or bodies; a group known as AROIF (AbdulRaeem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation) that is based locally in Nigeria and another known as WAMY (World Assembly of Muslim Youths). WAMY is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The school was granted the license to run in Nigeria albeit as a Private University by the Federal Government of Nigeria License No. 010.
In the same year, the school commenced academic activities and had about 70 students during the 2005/2006 academic session. The seventy (70) students were spread across just three colleges,
- College of Humanity
- College of Management Sciences and
- College of Natural Sciences
Currently, AHU has an additional two colleges and two campuses. The additional colleges are the College of Law and the College of Education that are located in both the Igbaja and the Ilorin campuses, in Kwara state. The Ilorin campus, which is the main campus, is situated at Adewole Housing Estate alongside Adeta road, Ilorin. The campus has an open topography with highly accessible roads that makes mobility quite easy. The management believes that running staff and student welfare in the environment will be cost-effective.
The school provides its students with various programs, which include undergraduate programs, diploma programs, and postgraduate programs.
Being an Islamic university, the overall goal of the institution is depicted in its motto, “Learning for Wisdom and Morality.” The curriculum of the institution focuses mainly on spiritual and moral uprightness for the youths most especially in the face of moral decadence that has ravaged the world in the wake of the 21st century, while also involved in the attempt to promote academic excellence.
