The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board have finally commented on the various reports given by candidates who have sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The 2019 UTME which commenced on April 11 across Nigeria has been marred by a few troubles here and there and although the board was silent about most of the challenges, the Board’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin has disclosed that the board has been working to fix all the minor challenges being faced by candidates sitting for the examination.
Dr Benjamin also commented on the results of the 2019 UTME saying that the board is yet to release any of the 2019 UTME results because the board noticed some certain issues surrounding the examination and the board is screening the results to find a fix to the issues.
According to him, over 1.2 million candidates have written the examination out of the over 1.8 million registered candidates. He also explained that the examination has so far been successful and that the board is working hard to find solutions to all the challenges affecting the examination.
Dr Benjamin also disclosed that the Board was still investigating those who were unable to be verified through its biometric process and would come out with a stand on the matter.

He also emphasised that more fraudulent activities are being identified in the examination and that board is working to curb all the illegal activities.
He added that the Board’s suspension of some Computer Based Test centres nationwide has not affected the candidates and that only centres which were found to have been compromised were suspended.
Benjamin explained that adequate examination centres were provided to all who registered for the examination.
Below is an extract of Dr Benjamin’s statement;
“We have to keep screening these results because there are lots of issues we discovered, such as multiple registrations, impersonation and the likes. So, we are still fishing them out.
“Some have been arrested and those yet to be arrested, we have their records. We will fish them out.
“However, candidates should expect their results very soon.” For Now no results have been released.
