The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has issued a warning to Nigerian students planning to study medicine abroad, precisely in Ukraine to be wary when applying and to check the authenticity of the institution before enrolment.

Professor Adewole gave this warning in a statement issued by the minister through the Media and Public Relations Director of the ministry, Mrs Boade Akinola.

The statement also disclosed that the Federal Government of Nigeria recently got a notification from the Ukrainian Ministry of Health that the quality of education being provided by the Odessa National Medical University cannot be guaranteed by the Ukrainian government.

Although the Odessa Medical University is registered on Wikipedia as a government University in Ukraine, the institution did not do well in an International Monitoring Study of Quality of Higher Medical Education conducted in Ukrainian Medical Universities on March 25.

The minister quoted the Ukrainian education ministry as saying that Odessa Medical University had exempted itself from the study by International Monitoring Study of Quality of Higher Medical Education in Ukraine.

He then warned Nigerian students planning to study medicine in Ukraine to note the development before submitting their applications to the affected institution.
